This unique project for a client’s private 30′ tall telescope observatory presented several design challenges. The dome and supporting outer walls are structurally independent from the inner telescope mount and supporting pedestal. The pedestal is constructed from precast sewer pipe to provide a solid base that will minimize movement to the telescope while tracking objects in the night sky.
