Bozzo Family Vineyards is located on a 16.5 acre hillside site in northwestern Loudoun County. O’Neil Architects worked closely with the Owner to develop a master plan for the winery, starting with walking the site before trees were cleared, selecting the building sites, and developing the layout of all the required infrastructure such as access roads, parking, utilities, and well and septic systems. The master plan allows for the buildings to be constructed in stages as the winery grows and the young vineyard produces more grapes for wine production.
Phase one includes a small timber framed building linked by a breezeway to an adjacent one-story utility barn, which will be used initially as the tasting room and wine production space. Phase two of the project will include a large two-level wine production building linked by a glass entrance pavilion to a timber-framed tasting room. Large windows and roll up glass doors will face Route 9 and the winery entrance road to show off the working winery tanks and equipment inside the building. All four buildings will be grouped around a circular driveway and parking area and will share the same color scheme and architectural style. Once the phase 2 buildings are completed, the phase one buildings will be converted into their long-term use as the winery office and vineyard equipment storage barn.
